Android update coming
26.08.2011 - 2 comments
With the release of the iOS version close, it was about time we gave the Android gamers some well deserved update. The update will be released sometime next week and comes with the new Arcade mode temple (unending level, great for highscores) and the new star-achievements that you can collect in every temple.
We also made many small and bigger bug fixes for touch controls, improved tilt controls, less battery (ab)usage, level-bugs, crashes on big-screen devices, saving progress to the OpenFeint cloud and much more!
Just a few more days and the update will be live !
PS: the Knight character and levels are still coming, just not in this update ;(

Drilling iOS

The wait has been extremely long! but it’s now close to over. We are currently running the final tests of Super Drill Panic on the iPhone and iPad (!) meaning we hope to release this game within the coming weeks.
What the iOS version brings is the full game with the original two characters: Adventurer and Thief. The game is a universal app, so it will run fine on iPod, iPhone and iPad in full screen. Besides the Openfeint support we also included Gamecenter support!
The game will also feature the new level structure that we are currently adding to Android. This means you get to unlock the various levels, can grab three stars per temple, and you can unlock Arcade mode for highscores. The arcade mode is a level without an ending! It starts easy, but gets difficult very quickly and the only way your game ends is if you die.. !
With Super Drill Panic on iOS we also plan to try out something new for the platform, so the game will be released full and FREE with in-game advertising. We might change our mind after a few weeks and make the game payable without ads.. so be sure to grab it for free as soon as it get’s released
stay tuned for the release, make sure to follow us on Twitter or Facebook for the latest news !
Pure hotness

The Knight

Since I was hard at work on the iPhone port, I decided it was time to get some of the things done that have been bugging me for a while. The game was fun, but it was also “short”, the first thing I had on the top of my list was an Arcade mode.
The arcade mode is basically an unending shaft where you have to try and get as high a score as possible by staying alive. This mode is available for every character, and is unlocked once you completed the story mode of the character.
This new mode also allowed me to fix some minor points I had with the story mode. You basically didn’t really see the progress you made! So right now the story mode really plays more like a story as you get to see every step you take, and between levels it’s much easier to hop into the shop and upgrade your character.
Finally I also started work on the third character (yes there is a third one!) : The Knight! in a little rusty armour.. My biggest problem, and the reason this has had such a long delay time, was that I basically ran out of ideas to put into the game. The first two characters introduce one new thing per level, or close to that, and there is only so much you can do with a dropping game!
Eventually I came to the conclusion that you don’t need 100% new ideas in every level, I can reuse old idea’s and put them in a new mix and give them new visuals to fit the theme of the Knight.
So there you have it! a new HUGE update is coming to Super Drill Panic, and all this will be added to the iPhone release version as well! For now, have a look at the Knight in his first level:
Me and my droid give 4/5

Alster from MeAndMyDroid gave Super Drill Panic a little workout, figured you could play the game with two phones for double the fun!
Just think, if you have two Android devices (and two hands) you can play two games of it at the same time! How many other games can boast like that? 4/5 stars.
Drilling to iPhone!

It has been quiet for a long time on the Super Drill Panic front, but that is about to change! The iPhone version of the game is now close to being finished, and we plan to release it in a couple of weeks from now.
The game is an almost perfect port of the Android original, and the first version comes with both the Adventurer and Thief levels. So stay tuned, we might even find some time and ideas to create a third chapter!
