update: the Lite version is now also available! so go check out world one for free
Finally it has arrived, version 2.1 is now live for Android devices. Don’t fear iPhone people, your update is coming probably in a week (depending on the speed of Apple’s approval team). We decided to release the Android version now, because it’s ridiculous to let Android users wait for Apple to allow them to play
This update is very big, we changed the interface completely, added the first of many new worlds, and did a lot of small enhancements and game fixes. Check out the full list of updates below.
We are already working on another new level to be added in the next update, and a Lite version is heading to Android this week, with probably an iPhone version following later.
v2.1.0 – Update information
- A new interface, easier to navigate, and more space on screen
- A level select screen: As we add more and more worlds you will be able to take a route to play the levels you want, so from this screen you will be able to see where you have been, and where you can go!
- Load and Save options: The game is getting bigger, so some loading and saving between levels should help you actually visit all the worlds in the game
- Vulcano Island: As mentioned, a complete new world is added to the game. It has new dangers and nice new visuals
- Music! : Many people asked for it, so here you go, some nice background tunes while running!
- Visual enhancements
- Audio enhancements
- Small speed improvements for slower Android devices
Restyling the interface

The current interface, let’s face it, is crowded at the least. Since we have more plans for future updates, we might need more room on the various screens. With that in mind we started work on a new interface for the upcoming update.
The new interface will give some more room for adding options, and it’s also more fitting with the rest of the game (more bright and “happy”). As you might have noticed there are now two buttons for music and soundeffects.. we had various requests from people concerning music, so there will be some great 8-bit style tunes in the update.
For the Android version we managed to add some great speed enhancements, making the game even smoother on even the oldest devices (g1, htc hero, etc).
Teaser world 3 and #iPhone update

Yesterday Apple was kind enough to approve the DynamoKid Touch update for iPhone.. so that takes care of the ugly sound bug
It also fixed some framerate (speed) issues on iPhone 3GS devices.
In the mean time we have been hard at work on the next update for DK. The update will feature the hot new world we introduced a couple of weeks ago, and also a nice world-map. If you don’t believe us, how about checking out the below trailer.. it shows it all!
minor #iPhone bug fix!

Ouch, painfull, but a small bug seems to have slipped into the release version! Strangely this wasn’t detected by us or by Apple’s approval team, but trying to turn the music on/off from the menu basically crashes the game: so don’t! The lucky thing is, you have sound anyway, and you can change the setting from the Pause menu
A 2.0.1 fix is uploaded to the AppStore, but with the current Apple-approval speed this might take a week to get activated.
Other users are saying the game has framerate issues on iPhone 3GS, not sure yet how that is possible seeing as the game runs at perfect speed on the older and slower idevices. We will look into it and see if it’s something we can fix!

And there it is! DynamoKid Touch for iPhone is now available on the App Store. This means all you iPhone gamers can finally join the fun. This version is identical to the current Android release, so from now on we try to keep both versions updated with all the new goodies we have planned.
