Touch lag fixed #android
11.11.2010 - 9 comments
We just pushed a small update fixing some multitouch and touch-lag issues. Some people say the game is to hard, please give us some more details in the comments, because we personally think this is one of our easiest games ! Give us your feedback and help us make the game better and more enjoyable !
Some parts of the game might be hard, but that’s the challenge of the game. It’s the difference between a game you play once and a game you want to play over and over and over…
Develop your skills!

The fixes to the touch lag are fantastic. The game is still pretty tricky but it shouldn’t be ‘easy’ anyhow, as long as it’s not broken as ever controls were before. If you find this your easy game I’ll have to test out your other games.
Great job on this guys, I’ll go back and add an amendment to the video review over at AndroidSPIN.com

Oh great review ! We love video reviews! will add yours to the review section of the site.
This might not be THE easiest, but it certainly isn’t hard in our opinion.. The best way to play DynamoKid is really holding your phone in one hand, and swiping the display with your other hand.

I don’t think it’s too hard in general. But for me it was definitely too intimidating at the beginning. I almost returned the game during the first 24h because I could’t master controls. Perhaps It would be useful if there was some training, easy freeplay mode or one very easy world available at the beginning where you could train playing and fighting various enemies in slightly easier conditions.

The easy ix to decrease difficulty would be to reduce the star quotas, but I think the controls are at the heart of the difficulty issue. My suggestion would be to make the zone that triggers the jump action larger. As of now, you have to press almost directly on DynamoKid to make him jump, but there is a lot of wasted space above and behind him that you literally never have to press (at least so far; I’m on Volcolorcano). I find that when I need to jump my thumb doesn’t always make it right on top of DynamoKid and he doesn’t jump, killing me. Being able to press in the space to the left of him (including some of the space above him) would remedy the situation and also help keep him visible rather than obscuring him with your thumb.

ok two good suggestions, we will look into both and most likely add them in future updates (with a tutorial requiring more time to add obviously
)

I’m sorry I didn’t get to writing sooner, but I’ve been busy, and I figured late is better than never.
I’ve bought all the orangepixel games that have been released with open feint support, and while I’ve found all of them to be a tad too difficult, I find dynamokid to be completely insane. Now, I’m no casual gamer, I’ve played a lot of games in the past, and continue to play for sizable part of my free time. I played dynamokid for about 30 mins, averaging about 15-20 seconds alive throughout. Basically, there are just way too many things happening at once. I routinely had to:
1) Jump
2) Fill in block to land on
3) squash guy
4) squash boulder
all at the same time. That coupled with the fact that it’s nearly impossible to anticipate the jumps, and as others have pointed out, hard to just manage to actually hit the guy, makes the game impossibly hard. I did once manage to get to goal of the first level, but I was a good 20 stars short of the required 50. Naturally, I very quickly realized there was no point in trying to get good at it, as it was simply impossible.
Now, as for your other games, they’re pretty difficult, too, but they work better. For instance, I can come to terms with the fact that I’ll never see the two last levels of mini plane, since in my several hours of playing, I’ve yet to make it past the second check point of the canyon level. In that game the knowledge that I might at some point be able to upgrade my plane to something better, gives me hope of eventually making it through.
As for Mini Army, I’m confident I will eventually manage to get to the 4th level, but I can deal with that being hard, as it snake, I expect it to last only a few minutes.
Probably as far as difficulty goes, I enjoy Pod the best. The only thing that annoys me there is no option for touch control, as tilt is rather impossible on the bus, and the matter of the impossible 50k achievement. Last time I checked, you actually held first place, and with a score far below 50k.
So, the point in short is that while all your games are a bit too hard, dynamokid is so hard it just wasn’t fun. I uninstalled it, so I haven’t tried the latest update, but I didn’t refund, because I like your games and want to support you. I just hope your future games are less impossibly hard, or better yet, have adjustable difficulty.

Thanks for that detailed info Orusaka!
If there is anything clear, it’s obvious to many people find DynamoKid to hard, it might have to do with the way people play, but we will certainly try to make it easier (at least the story mode) in the next update.

I think the main thing is the fact that while Mini Plane and Mini Army and to some extent Pod are hard games, they all give you the feeling that you could get better and make it through. Dynamokid, however, kept me at the first level for a good 30 mins, and left me feeling that I could never get good enough to get past it, and that’s a bad impression to get from the very first level.
I just realized I forgot to mention Jumpy. Jumpy used to be nearly impossibly hard, but that was all due to controls. After the control + jump touch screen update it’s actually playable. None of the older control options were even remotely playable. I mean, tilt is horrible, and I wish a slow and painful death. Moreover, control on the touch screen and jump on the trackball didn’t work because pushing the trackball would disable the touchscreen for nearly two seconds on my phone. Anyway, all fixed with the update.
I just reinstalled DynamoKid. I’m going to give it another go, and try to formulate some better comments as to what might be done to make it more playable in my eyes.
