he made us blush

Some great words come from Gametaroo! as he talks about Meganoid’s gameplay and mostly the touch controls we implemented.. check it out!

Orange Pixel’s final success is in proving that console-style gaming can work on a touchscreen – it just requires a deftness of touch and a certain degree of restraint to avoid blindly attempting to ape the capabilities of other platforms.

GDN says: Can’t afford to miss it!

The guys over at GamersDailyNews took a look at Meganoid and came to the right conclusion: you can’t afford to miss it!

Great challenges and amazing nostalgia make this game a fun packed platform skirmish, cool music and a pixelated frenzy you can’t afford to miss

Meganoid 1.4.9

Another update is pushed to Android market, while we are still patiently waiting for Apple to approve the iOS version. We had a little problem with our Gamecenter integration, but it is coming!

Meanwhile this update for Android brings 10 new Oreah levels, and some control fixes for Gamegripper users and HTC G2 (we hope, so let us know if it works now).

As you might have noticed by now, I’m slowly bringing both Sarge and Oreah levels towards the 90, and then we can bring all three modes to 100 at the same time (that’s my idea at least). This is also because I’m extremely busy with completing the next game: INC, and I hope all of you will like that game just as much ;)

So enjoy these new levels, and let me know if you encounter any bugs!

Music coolness!

Here is some coolness for you, the talented Coda who was responsible for that brilliant game tune in Meganoid, made a remix of the tune over on his website! It seems to also be an extended version so very well worth a listen if you like the music (who doesn’t to be honest)

Meganoid soundtrack remixed!

Meganoid update news

A new version of Meganoid hits the Android market right now! Adding 10 more Sarge levels (bringing the total to 80) and 10 new Oreah levels (bringing those to 50). We also fixed a couple of Xperia Play controls to make it perfect for playing on that awesome gaming device!

The iPhone version is getting an update soon. Right now we are looking at how the “Free for a day” results are, and we are looking into the lag issues with the GameFeed on the menu screen. We are talking to Openfeint to see if we can either fix it, or if we will remove it from the next update.

GameCenter is also coming to the iPhone version, since people are asking for it, and we don’t mind adding it ;)

If you still don’t have enough Meganoid in your life, we have another goodie for you. We gave our friends at Codeglue an official Meganoid table for their (free!) Android Beer Pong HD game.. so go check out that game and play with the Meganoid table!

Best free game of the day (iOS)

As you might have read, Meganoid is today’s “Free game of the day” on iOS! So get it if you still haven’t… and this is also gave us the following 5/5 star review:

Gamer studio review

The Gamer Studio apparently did a nice review (I’m guessing the iPhone version) a few weeks ago! Giving Meganoid a nice %78 rating.

Meganoid really is a slick action title. It achieves some nostalgia and it is pretty fun to kill a few minutes each day.

The fourth star

It’s about time for another big update.. and as I mentioned a few weeks ago, there was a plan to double the amount of fun!  Some people already guessed it: we will be playing the levels backwards!!

This means the start and exit of a level are reversed, and some of the items are moved and platforms added to be able to reach everything.  For me this is a relatively easy thing to do, I just have to play every level backwards, find the spots that can’t be done, and add a little solution like an elevator, move the ammo around, etc.  Right now I have the first twenty levels in reverse mode and you will unlock a fourth star when you complete it with all diamonds.  The levels run in “Sarge”  mode difficulty to make it even more of a challenge ;)

This update is coming to Android, hopefully, next week and iPhone a couple of weeks later.

I also updated the XPeria-Play controls in the game, and fixed a couple of small bugs left and right. So stay tuned for next weeks update (somewhere on Monday)

I’m still searching for the right idea for the last 10 levels, so hopefully this new Reverse mode can keep most of you people busy until I figured it out !

Appolicious gives it the bars

Another short but sweet review over at Appolicious, rating Meganoid on iOS a 4 out of 5 bars.

If nothing else, Meganoid proves there’s nothing wrong with an old-school-style game when care is taken to make it both challenging and fun. If you’re hungry for a classic gaming challenge that doesn’t conform to the usual standards of app game platformers, Meganoid is worth a long look.

Pixelated Sausage digs the pixels

Marc over at Pixelated Sausage, gave Meganoid on iOS a spin, and despite some fair criticism, rewards it a 4/5 pixelated sausages! ….yes..sausages! Go check it out.

If you enjoy platformers and especially if you played and enjoyed League of Evil, I highly recommend the game. At only a dollar, the gamble in non-existent and why not support a very rare Android to iOS port?
